The Bronxville School District, which is co-terminous with the Village of Bronxville, is comprised of three distinct schools, each with its own principal, under the direction of the Superintendent of Schools. The School is unique in that the facilities for all grades -- Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade -- are located on one campus near the center of Village. Total enrollment in the school last year was 1400 students with growth in population expected to be about 3% each year.

Since its incorporation in 1922, the Bronxville School has maintained an educational philosophy that centers on developing each child's greatest potential through a combination of the best traditional and innovative educational approaches that accommodate individual learning styles and rates of development.
The students of the Bronxville School, from kindergarten through twelfth grade are, in general, motivated, energetic, dedicated, curious and bright. They are encouraged to become independent thinkers and problem solvers. Students of the school have an exemplary record of achievement in the classroom and co-curricular activities that include national prominence in academics and athletics, as well as in music and the fine arts.
Elementary School
In the Bronxville Elementary School (K-5), the individual child is the center and the focus of the curriculum. Learning is viewed as a process that engages the child's total self: physical, emotional, social, and intellectual. Mastery of skills and knowledge is important, but so is love of learning, self-discipline, self-esteem, responsibility as a group member, and creative expression.
Special areas and support programs, which include Music, Art, Science and Physical Education, enrich and mesh with regular classroom learning.
The Elementary School faculty consists of 38 classroom teachers, nine special area teachers, nine support services teachers and one media center/library teacher. Each grade currently is divided into six sections or classes with a total enrollment of 711 students. The Board of Education has established specific limits at each grade level to ensure small class sizes.
Middle School
The Bronxville Middle School, created in 1986, consists of grades 6 through 8, and is designed to assist the student in his or her transition from the elementary classroom to the high school program. Fundamental to Bronxville's Middle School philosophy is the Advisory Program which provides an opportunity for a teacher/advisor to meet regularly with a group of students in an informal setting to provide effective mentoring and promote group activities.

Each Middle School student is required to take Language Arts, History, Mathematics and Science courses at the appropriate level. Each year, students are asked to make a selection among courses in Band, Orchestra or Chorus. An exploratory program has been designed to develop students' interests and talents in areas such as Technology, Art, Drama, Word Processing and Home and Career Skills. There are regularly scheduled Gym classes for all students, and a Modified Sports Program available after school. The Middle School Faculty consists of 33 full and part-time faculty members who teach a total of 350 students.

High School
The Bronxville High School is known for its rigorous and challenging academic program. The 340 students in grades nine through twelve undertake a core curriculum that is taught at the Honors Level. In addition, the curriculum offers a full range of Advanced Placement courses. Since approximately 99% of Bronxville students continue their education after graduation, most students complete at least 3 years of Mathematics, 3 years of Science and 3 years of a Foreign Language in addition to the required 4 years of English and Social Studies. Each year students are required to enroll in 6 courses as well as Physical Education. The Bronxville High School has approximately 37 full-time and part-time teachers with 80% holding Master's degrees and 20% holding Doctorate degrees.

Co-curricular activities at Bronxville High School play an essential role in the School's educational program. Bronxville students are encouraged to develop their creative talents and athletic abilities outside of the classroom, and most participate in a variety of co-curricular activities. The High School sponsors a broad program in interscholastic sports including varsity teams with equal opportunities for male and female students. Other activities include several major drama productions, three school publications, school government, Jazz Band, Model U.N., Math team, Foreign Language Clubs, community service opportunities and several other special interest clubs.

The Community's Commitment to Educational Excellence
The community has a long history of supporting public education. In May, 2001, residents approved a school budget of approximately $26 million for the 2001-2 school year. In addition, both in 1993 and in 1999, the community supported bond referendums to expand and renovate existing facilities to meet the growing enrollment as well as programmatic needs. The school is currently undergoing a $22.4 million facilities construction.

Parents and community residents also support the school through the PTA and the Bronxville School Foundation, established in 1993, whose yearly donations have enhanced the excellence of the school's educational program. The Bronxville School's parents devote significant amounts of volunteer time, talents, and energy to many school activities and organizations throughout the year.
